Kruja Castle & Durres – 1 Day Tour from Tirana

We pick you up at the agreed location and start our 1.5-hour trip to the city of Kruja. The first visit is to the Castle of Kruja and the Museum of Skenderbeg. There you will get acquainted with the history of the Albanian people and its resistance in the 15th century led by the national hero Skanderbeg against the greatest Empire of the time, the Ottoman Empire. Inside the castle, you will explore the old road and the houses of the Castle. You can take photos of the mountain and the city of Kruja.

After you will visit the old Bazaar of Kruja. Kruja Bazaar is one of the oldest in Albania with the original marketplace dating back over 400 years. The Ottoman-style bazaar stretches all the way.

You will proceed with your tour to the City of Durres, one of the oldest ones (founded in 627 B.C.).  You are going to visit the Durres Amphitheater there, which was built at the beginning of the 2nd Century, the Old Byzantine Market, and the Venetian Tower. Later on, you will have a seafood lunch by the sea, in one of the best restaurants in Durres (Optional). Then you will walk along the promenade by the seashore.

After you are going to visit “The Byzantine Forum” which is located in the center of Durres, as it would have been in the ancient city of Dyrrhachium or Dyrrah. It would have occupied a central position in relation to the other large public and religious constructions of the Byzantine period. They were built at the end of the 6th century during the reign of the Roman Emperor Anastasios (481-518). Following after, the street with Italian-style buildings, built in the time of King Zog.

We then return back to Tirana.
