Itinerary

Skanderbeg Square

The tour will lead you first to Skanderbeg Square, the heart of the city, one of the places where people meet, walk, relax, and enjoy concerts, and events. The Square is named after the national Albanian hero and is one of the biggest squares in Albania. The guide will tell you the story of the main buildings around the square, such as The Palace of Culture; one of the most important cultural buildings, built during the communist era, The Clock Tower of Tirana; a first-category cultural monument, Et’hemBey Mosque; located in the center of Tirana, one of the oldest mosques not only in Albania but all over the Balkans.

Xhamia Et'hem Bej

Construction of Et’hem Bey Mosque was started in 1791 or 1794 by Molla Bey and it was finished in 1819 or 1821 by his son Haxhi Ethem Bey, grand-grandson of Sulejman Pasha. At the time it was built, it was part of complex buildings that compose the historical center of Tirana. This mosque is one of the oldest in our country, with high architectural and museum values.

Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania

You will visit the Resurrection Cathedral which is an Albanian Orthodox church situated in the center of Tirana, Albania. It is considered among the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the Balkans.

Saint Paul Cathedral

You will visit Saint Paul Cathedral. The Cathedral was built in late 2001 and is among the newest and largest cathedrals in Tirana. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tiranë – Durrës.

Fortress of Justinian (Pass By)

You will have a visit to the Fortress of Justinian simply known as Tirana Castle . Its history dates back to 1300 and is a remnant of the Byzantine era. The fortress is the place where the main east-west and north-south roads crossed and formed the heart of Tirana. In the renovations of which today the Toptani Family, who owned it, has erected a modern multifunctional center for visitors during their stay in Tirana.

Clock Tower (Pass By)

You are going to visit the Clock Tower The Clock Tower is a cultural monument that has shown the time in Tirana since 1822. It stands beside Et’hem Bey mosque, built by the same person. It is 25 m and from there you will see the center of Tirana.

Muzeu Historik Kombetar (Pass By)

Taking you from the Bronze Age to the Communist era, and everything in between. Located in Skanderbeg Square, at the very heart of Tirana.

BunkArt 2

After you are going to visit Bunkart 2 Museum, which takes us back to the time of the communist dictatorship. One underground anti-nuclear bunker was built in 1978, by the communist state to protect their leadership in the event of a nuclear attack. This bunker tells the history of the Albanian police from its establishment until the time of Communism, but of interest is the history of the secret police, which was called Sigurimi There, the guide will tell you a lot of history from the communist period.

Enver Hoxha Pyramid

The pyramid was built as a museum in 1988, after the death of the dictator Enver Hoxha to perpetuate his work. It was designed by the dictator’s son-in-law and daughter. During the 1999 Kosovo War, the building was used as a NATO base. Now Piramida has become the largest youth center for innovation in computer technology in the region. It has several stairs that take you to the top. From there, you have a wonderful view of the center of Tirana.

House of Leaves (Pass By)

House of Leaves used to be the building of the Albanian secret police (Sigurimi). Now it is a museum that shows the activities and technology used by this secret police to pursue and persecute the so-called political enemies.

Pazari i Ri (Pass By)

The new bazaar is a place where you can find restaurants and bars with the cheapest prices in the city, as well as fruits, vegetables and various foods. The tour ends here.

Optionally you can have dinner in one of the restaurants there.
